About Lupus Survival Guide
The Lupus Survival Guide was founded by Marisa Zeppieri – Caruana in May 2007, several years after she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus. She wanted to design a website that would help educate people about the disease and also offer a forum for people to share their own testimonies that others could relate to. In November 2007, Marisa signed up with the SouthEast Chapter of the Lupus Foundation to become an official support group leader. A public speaker on the disease, Marisa also spends her time writing and researching and was recently selected to be a Board Member of The Lupus Foundation of America S.E. Chapter.
Marisa’s college educational experience is in Fine Art, Chemistry/Nursing and she is currently exploring options to return for her Masters in Nutrition (currently dependent on her health). She strives to bring information about Lupus to her community, other patients and their families. With the new Lupus Survival Guide website, the goal is to incorporate videos, a blog, guest writers and a large section that deals with anti-inflammatory recipes and cooking. There will also be two surprise announcements made in the next few months under the “Coming Soon” section – so keep checking back for more information.
